I recently had the opportunity to stay at Great Northern, and while I appreciate the historic charm, my experience didn’t quite meet expectations. Upon arrival, I found myself waiting a significant time to check in due to a wedding event, which threw off my schedule. My room was spacious and clean, but the bed felt rather firm for my liking, and without air conditioning, the heat was quite stifling. The culinary experience at Circa 1852 was notable. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it a great spot to unwind. I enjoyed a full English breakfast that demonstrated their commitment to quality, although I wish I could have savored it without the rush. The breakfast was served a bit late for my early plans, which meant I had to skip it. On the other hand, the staff was friendly and did provide me with a fan to help with the heat, which I appreciated. The hotel's ideal location was a plus, especially for exploring local attractions like Nene Park. While the stay had its hiccups, the food at Circa 1852 left me with hope for future visits.
